*****

"Poor Girl, Poor Boy,
They're both aching for the same joy
Seems they never did discover
That each other was their lover
Poor girl, poor boy
They're both fixed by their fixation
They're both fixed by their fixation

Poor he, Poor She
They're both barking up the same tree
If they could only get together,
They could face the stormy weather
Poor he, poor she
They're both fixed by their fixation
They're both fixed by their fixation

Poor Boy, Poor Girl
They're both surfing on the same curl
Seems they chose to learn in random
Never chose to cruise in tandem
Poor boy, Poor girl
They're both fixed by their fixation
They're both fixed by their fixation"

I listened to the song over and over again. I sat there, sprawled on my couch listening to that one song. I had given up on the rest of the album once I heard this tune. It had a flamenco touch, but remained with the rest of the album in it's jazzy feel.

But it wasn't the music that really hit me. The music only backed my feelings about the lyrics. I took a swig of the wine glass that I was holding. Those words held so much meaning.

I paced the small living room, reliving those words. The CD had long since stopped, but the song remained in my head. Poor Girl, Poor Boy. Well, they really weren't poor. Except in love. Well, that might have been what the author had been going for.

"They're both aching for the same joy."

Oh, how we were. I could tell that she wanted me. And I wanted her. I thought of her every moment. Seems the never did discover that each other was their lover. We hadn't quite reached that point yet. We were still trying to figure out how the other one felt about us.

"They're both fixed by their fixation."

We were. We were so fixed upon each other. We were obsessed. Well I was at least. I was so in love with her. She was in my every thought. I whispered her name with every breath.

"They're both barking up the same tree, if they could only get together, they could face the stormy weather."

I wish we could get together. We certainly could face the stormy weather together. I walked out of my flat, and started heading down the stairs, still reminiscing over the powerful lyrics.

"They're both surfing on the same curl, seems they chose to lose in random, never chose to cruise in tandem."

As I pulled the Auburn out of it's parking space I tried to erase the song from my mind, but I couldn't. We were certainly surfing on the same curl. Great choice of lyrics, being in SoCal and all.

And our relationship always was so random. One day it was going beautifully, and the next we barely said anything to each other, even in the office. And we never seemed to be in sync with each other. When one of us was ready to do something, the other wasn't it was a frustrated cycle. But I suppose that anyone could say that we were both fixed by our fixation.

The End
